The Passing of Patriarch David Ririe

Patriarch Ririe was laid to rest on January 13th.  He suffered through Lymphoma for the last year and was in remission but the 'cure' wound up destroying his immune system.  He is now at rest after a full and wonderful life.  I was able to sing 'How Great Thou Art' at the funeral service.  This hymn was Brother Ririe's favorite and he always reminded me that he wanted me to sing for his funeral.
He is remembered for his heroism as a POW during WW11, and for his pioneering agricultural efforts both abroad in New Zealand while serving a mission with his family and here at home for the Department of Agriculture.  He was a Bishop several times in the Salinas Wards.  His final church calling was one of Patriarch for over 30 years.  He pronounced 700+ blessings in his tenure including all of our children.
I will always remember him as one with a special spiritual gift which allowed you to feel the Master's touch when in his presence. Well done Brother Ririe.

A nice thank you letter from Sister Ririe.
