Prison Visits

Kerry Varney of the Stake Presidency has made several visits to the Prison over the past months. His spirit has been welcomed and appreciated by all within the sound of his voice. He has gone through the entire training regime and is now authorized on a year pass as we, the Branch Presidency and Brother Humble, are likewise. Our upcoming Branch Conference on April 29th will be attended by the entire Stake Presidency plus Brother Bowman(Stake Executive Secretary) and our secretary Ron Vitzian and the first Lady of the Branch, Sister Barbara Romero who has sacrificed so much of her husband these past 13+ years. The inmates(Brothren) are very excited as are we to be part of this historic Conference. A Branch choir has been organized in the North facility and they will perform for the Conference. And Brother Vitzian being in attendance will be a further highlight as he has 'religiously' sent letters of encouragement to each and every inmate on our rolls, whether a member or not for many years now. One can only imagine the feelings of gratitude the Brethren will 'pour out' upon him.

Of note, we are finalizing the details to get our meeting schedules and church related media being 'aired' on the Prison closed circuit TV Channels. Brother Kessler of the King City Branch is over the education department of Soledad Prison and has been instrumental in 'hooking' us up with the person in charge of the prison media department. We plan to show the basic videos such as 'Legacy', 'The Testaments' and 'The Joseph Smith Story' to begin and then go from there. This all happened at the request of our prison Brethren who noticed that the channel 'aired' other religious media, so why not Mormon media. We hope the announcement of our meeting schedules will bring others to the meetings. Time will tell.
