The 50 year reunion of the 'Outsiders' came and went. In early June, Dan showed up ready to reunite with Larry Hosford and perform at the Pajaro Street Grill just down the road from us here on Willow Street. The Outsiders performed locally from the late 50's to very early 60's at different local venues, among the more noted being Kalisa's (Coffee House) on Cannery Row. I might have mentioned this before, but my earliest musical recollections were of these two guys practicing in my bedroom at 12 Oak Street. Dan and I shared bunk beds!!! Dan told the story of how he and Larry got together. One day, Dan was out on the front lawn of 12 Oak Street playing the guitar and singing for a few people who had gathered around. Larry's brother worked at the old Shell Station (Harami's) across the street at what is now the new Fosters. Larry was curious about the crowd on this front lawn, according to him, there were cute girls there!, and so he wandered over and sat down to listen. One thing led to another, and Larry joined up with Dan, taught himself to play guitar, and the rest for him, as they say, was history. He went on to record several albums and is still performing locally. Dan, of course, joined the Air Force and moved on. But he has always had a love for folk music, so it was good to see them together once again. The crowd for the evening was small but appreciative. Here is Dan with lifelong friend Bill Lourentzos. Bill used to visit Neece at least once a year, usually during Christmas, even after Dan was long gone. In fact, Bill kept coming right up until Mom's death in 2001. He and she would talk and talk and bounce ideas off each other. According to Bill, she was a wonderful listener and was definitely opinionated, but not to the point of overbearance or rudeness. It was good to see him also.

This is Dan's daughter, Dana with her family. They came to listen and see their grandpa and pa.

They actually made it through the first set of music, and then bedtime hit. They are an adorable family and would make great members of the church. They are disciplined and well behaved. I think Dana reminds me so much of Neece in facial appearance. It was good to have them at the house. They live over in the valley so we don't get to see much of them.
