The weekend went well. Nana is recovering and is gaining weight and strength, but she will require a walker for the rest of her days. Papa is responding to the therapy nicely, but we are concerned that he might have dimentia or worse. He will be tested for such things next week, so we shall see.
It was Fathers Day yesterday and all my children called to wish-well. They make me happy and joyous and it is so satisfying to know that they are all on the straight and narrow and actively seeking blessings at the hand of the Lord.
We had a little bit of everything yesterday at the prison, missionary proselyting, searching for the lost sheep, testifying, teaching, listening, preaching repentance, watching old church DVD vignettes, ie, The First Vision, other 10 year old seminary clips, etc. etc. The spirit truly does guide Art and me as we conduct our 4 services per day. Sometimes, we do not have all four depending on the 'slammed' situation. 'Slammed' is the term used for various groups, races, or other, inmates being confined to their cells and/or cell blocks. Yesterday, the 'whites' were slammed in one yard. In another, the entire yard was 'slammed' because a syringe was missing from the medical area. It gets pretty hairy sometimes with all the different things going on, but I do not feel threatened or in danger. We conducted cell visits, where we go to the cell door of on of our guys and just say hi and try to spread some good 'spiritual cheer'. The men are truly glad to see us and we them. I do see the hand of the Lord working in some of their lives. A particular young boy, 20 years of age, Ray Delaney, is in for drugs and robbery. He has been a member all his life and even went to seminary. I pronounced a blessing on him several weeks ago at the conclusion of our service. He is afraid of the outside and 'screwing up again'. This is his second time around and one more is his third strike which means a very lengthy resentencing. He asked for the blessing because he is not able to say no to the drugs that are readily available to the inmates, which I find hard to believe. Art told me that the 'staff' or cops bring much of it in to the prison and are paid by the gangs and other controlling parties to do so. It is frightening to think about all that, so.. anyway, Ray wanted the blessing to be able to resist the temptations. He is serious about the church now and does not want to fall back to his old ways. In talking to him yesterday, he said he was doing better in that area-a good thing. He is reading and studying and listening to us when we are together.

Today was spent fixing phones in the morning and driving to San Jose to fix a phone in the afternoon. Nana and Jan went along for the ride and it was a beautiful day. We ate at the Gilroy Chevy's. I have lost 8 pounds in two weeks and am excited once again to be on the way down. My back is not good. I am trying to get a prescription filled that may help, so ....
